I think he means poundage, ie. pressure.

Personally I would stick with the standard cap.

Im using a 7 lb cap its the highest you can get with the long neck type cap as on the minor.
I think its the same as an early mg midget
I did run with the std cap for years without any problems though

Std cap will be fine - do add a 'catch bottle' on the overflow pipe. When it cools down it sucks back in any water thrown out.

Personally I wouldn't bother with that either - I haven't and I don't lose a noticeable amount of water. Maybe a cupful between services. If you put too much water in the radiator will blow the excess out on the first run but after that it settles down and doesn't lose any more. Don't fix it if it isn't broken!

I find it's quite handy - if there is a wee (small) boil up (maybe when toiling up a long hill at speed) at least the water is contained and - refills the rad on cooling down.

I've not had a problem with boiling up on this car even on long hills in hot weather. My first Minor overheated on practically every hill but I suspect the radiator and water galleries were badly furred up.

Well - mine tends to blow out water if worked 'hard' - but it is big valve head/raised CR and larger carb on alloy inlet. Water bottle catches it all. Bought a temp gauge 6 years ago -still not fitted !
