Solex breathers

Post by minor_hickup »

I've just dug out my brother's BMW 2002 now he's got it taxed and insured and doing a few jobs on it. Before it was put away he had twin solex 40 phh (side draught) carbs put on it. Does anyone know what I should be doing with the float chamber breathers. They obviously should have a pipe on them, should I be connecting them to the airbox? The problem being it's most likely to be run with ruddy great ram pipes on it and just filter socks on the end.

Any help greatly apreciated, especially as its not mog related. Has anyone run a mog on one of these carbs? They may not be as good as webers but they look stunning. :D

The main problem of running without good filtration is that dirt & dust will be drawn straight into the engine which is not a good thing maybe this lot can give some advice.

I couldn't agree more, but the filter socks are pretty effective and are made by pipercross. I only asked on here because I know some SUs have breathers like this.
