Frenetic flasher!

Thanks to Ray sorted out my over exuberant wipers! Now another early MM1000 querie to tax you. Have just returned my '60 MM to semaphor function (it having been previously 'modernised' with the later system).
This has involved reinstating flashing rear brake in conjunction with the Lucas db10 relay, using original type front side lights as flashing indicators, both in conjunction with functioning semaphores. Side lighting at front catered for with replacement headlights fitted with 'pilot' bulbs.
All works well apart from the excessively fast speed of flashing.
Is there a way to slow this down to a more conventional flash interval? Can I put a resistor into the circuit? Or did they always flash this fast during the transitional hybrid period when semaphores were being phased out?
All help appreciated
Andrew
