Very simple sump gasket question.

This may seem like a silly question but I want to get this right!
The cork sump gaskets in the gasket set I have are too thin one way and too fat the other way, I'm guessing that you put them in the thin way and when you tighten the sump to the block they get squashed into the correct shape.
Please confirm this.

Thanks

Philip

I suggest a wee bit more than that 1mm - say 3/16" - which I think is ~ 5mm.

Yeap, I left about 4mm (ish) on mine, they should squidge up flush with the gasket face but not spread out (which can cause leaks). The manual recommends greasing the new cork seals before putting them in.
