I have a 1951 Morris minor 895?. Side Valve 2 door which has not been started since 1976 it is in very good condition and has been stored in a good dry garage I have removed plugs and found that the engine will crank over using my hands no problem. Have checked petrol pump and cleaned the points after advising me what procedures to adopt before I attempt to start it on a new battery can anyone tell me what fuel to use and where can it be purchased.

If there is any old fuel still in the tank drain it off (it has a drain plug) before putting the fresh fuel in and give the pump a chance to pump the fuel up (it will stop ticking) and then give it a go

Well last year a pal drained a car that had stood for over 20 years with no problems, but the smell of the old petrol was rather unbelieveable and it came out with the consistancy of a varnish/shellack and took quite a while to drain, but if the plug is impossible to move you could use the pump with the outlet pipe into a container to remove most of the old stuff.
Cheers
