Hi
Just joined and thought I'd try and post up some photos of the car from way back , late '80s / 90 .
The engine and running gear metamorphosed into a Lotus 7 chassis ,with which we won the 1400cc British championship in '94/'95 . this was then sold as a road ,sans all the racing goodies ,
I am starting to resurrect the Moggy , this time with the KAD engine Turbo'd !

Sort of worked ?!
No idea why some of the photos are large and some small ?
some of the small ones seem to be able to click on others not ?
Can someone explain this in terms I might understand

Well done for posting them - takes some people a bit more time

Beautiful motor - I'll have a look at the code tomorrow and see if I can work out what's what when I'm a bit more awake

Where the large images appear, you have linked directly but the small images are links to the larger ones. If you view source you will see that the small ones are something like

(a href = ..large image)(img src = ....small image)(/a)

but the large ones are just
(img src = ....small image)

I've replaced "<" with "(" and ">" with ")" to stop it being coded by the page.

So if you stick the "<a href" small image bit to the left and the "/a>" bit to the right it should be fine

Not entirely sure what all that was about

I just went through and stripped out all the guff that Photobucket likes to include, plus removed the links to 'th's (thumbnails). All done now, without all that & 'alt' tags etc

Yes the Moggy is still alive ... it has been in hiding
I am slowly putting it back together , with the engine turbocharged this time!
I would think it will be the quickest 'A' Series Moggy ever ?!!
and not just in a straight line, it's pretty damn good around the twisty bits as well

The Lotus is in Denmark , had an email ,out of the blue last month , from the current owner which was nice , he tracked me down through internet links to my local motor club , spotted my trials car photo'd on a trial and noticed the bonnet , [ it was made from the same mould !!! ] I fitted a normal ? 'A' series in it before it was sold

It had approx. 180 BHP from 1380cc , 120+ft/lb Torque when fully developed , running Weber Alpha injection/management .
Not bad for a N/A BMC 'A' Series ?

Aiming for 300BHP with the Turbo ........ Well Why Not ?!!

can you really make an a series bottom end that strong?

I suppose you are only aiming for short period blasts, and not road driving?

I thought I was being optimistic thinking about building a 140bhp plus 10psi supercharged 1293, but for road use.

Its got steel crank and rods and steel 4 bolt mainbearing caps , it's revs that kills them , so this set up was developed over the years as the engine developed 'till it was revving to 9500 RPM on gear changes !!
With the turbo it will probably peak at 8500 RPM .
But ultimately there is only one way to answer your question , and thats to try it !

Carl, good to hear your moggy is still around, when do you think it will be ready.
I remember your mog from Wiscombe and Colerne in the early nineties when I just started competing with mine. It made a nice change having more than one mog competing!

What gearbox are you using? Are you still using the Capri axle?

What a good memory ! yes it is a Capri english axle , I bent the old one off the line at Shelsley Walsh . Got another in local scrapyard , when fitting all the link brackets found it was even wider !!
I'm using a Ford 4 speed type E Quaife Dog box with RS2000 bellhousing
