I have an out going pm in my out box. How do i get it sent to its recipient?

I think it stays there until its read by the recipient, then it gets moved to the outbox. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong

It moves to the sent box when the recipient reads it.

thank you gents. My first thoughts were that that was silly but upon reflection it does close the gap between sent and read.
