Morris Minor Owners Club

I have seen a 1931 Morris Minor for sale - it obviously bears no resemblance to a "modern moggy". It is a convertible with solid tyres. Is it true that it can be allowed to be called a Morris Minor?

1928 was the year of the first pre war Morris Minor for some reason I think it looks real good compared to other cars of the era! just like the post war Minor!

Am I write in saying it was Lord Nuffield who gave the post war Minor it's name instead of Mosquito?

Yes original code name was Mosquito - maybe was dropped to avoid War Time thoughts which could have restricted export sales.

Thanks to you all for your replies. I think I was using the wrong terminology to say marque - name was probably more appropriate. I am looking for an old car and saw the MM but was surprised at the date being 1931 - I thought it was too early, but one of you seems to have solved that.
