Check out ebay item number 110243255118, its an early lowlight April 1949 in a scrapyard! Someones got to save it! Although some of the pics look bad the metal in them is so much heavier and they dont seem to rust so badly...
Just phoned the seller and confirmed that it is sold and will be collected tomorrow. Do not fear Bill it will be left standard and I'll be in touch re judging criteria.
Its a good opportunity for us to do a standard finish car, only this one is a bit more challenging than a standard 1000.
Will be on the lookout for an original motor, at least I know that the sump plugs and pulley's are available.
Hopefully the rear wings can be used to take molds from for glass wings. I have a spare good set of steel ones from my 54 saloon and were modding an early convertible which should now yield the full running gear and part of the interior.
Sorry if this post is not very PC but am I mad!!!!
I have hired a trailer arranged to take the day off ,agreed with the seller a price (verbal contract) only to be SWEARING MODERATED about by a member of the MMOC committee who saw fit to poke around in this affair. The result is a seller who is also now fed up with the sale and will no longer sell to me at our agreed price. so basically thank you very much MMOC, you have yet again denied one of your own members the chance of a purchase .
I'm sure this will be deleted/moderated, but I ask you really!!!!
The owner has aded a bit to the bottom saying the auction is going to run til the end and also put in the chassis number, SMM3779 making this a very early car indeed.
Sorry you have had so much hassle Jonathon, makes me regret having posted it now.
The agreed price was far in excess of the bid price and it was agreed.A verbal contract is a contract . I disagree, with you John,as a direct result of this email the sale was terminated, the seller had been happy to accept my offer which was well over the others he had received.
Until you are aware of the facts I think your comments are ill founded.
David, I'm pleased that you posted the item its just a shame that events have soured the sale for me. I'm sure someone will buy the car and be happy with it.
CJ the 'ill founded comment' was regarding the MMOC involvement, how would you view it if you had agreed a price, made the necessary arrangements to collect and pay then find out that someone had suggested that it should not be sold until viewed by the MMOC representative, ( sellers words not mine) I think you would be a bit miffed.
Many ebayers offer a price behind the scenes and many are successful in securing the item. In this case the seller had been let down in the past and so decided to keep the bidding going until he had my money. Now this deal has been broken, the sale will continue on ebay.
