After reading about suspension legs I now find I cant get a thrust release bearing from any of the specialists (unless I,m prepared to buy a complete clutch kit (£90 as opposed to £10) is there a problem with those now? bog standard 1098 (if any body has one going spare PM me!!!)

I might have a 2nd hand one kicking around in my spares somewhere if you're stuck.

Thanks John the one I,ve taken out has about 2mm of carbon showing above the cast ring so anything better than that has got to be better.

Anyone thought about sourcing a Timken std roller bearing and converting?

Have you tried an MG place? Costs a bit more (for the same thing thanks to the "posh" badge..) but someone must have one.

I remember someone on here pointing out that wouldn't work as a simple replacement as the bearing isn't always centred. It'll move sideways due to the end of the arm describing an arc.

If you send me a PM I will send you details of my local clutch & brake supplier who will sell you just the bearing if that's all you need.

One of the independants on fle-bay has one in stock, but even he says they are hard to come by even using his contacts, how come? has there been a car developed in china thats using minor clutch release bearings? is that where they have all gone along with all our scrap steel?

I believe that one of the reasons behind the club maintaining its funds, was to enable it to look into the production of certain parts if this ever became necessary.

Yes, that would be a good idea Judge- how about King Pins, decent chrome, front brake drums and clutch release bearings as these seems to be needed.
