To stick the "spit" through - there is one behind the back seat as well!
This was used to literally "spit" the car and rotate it when dipping it for painting.

There was - I've got a picture of a pick-up on the spit somewhere, and it's been posted here before too. I'll try and find it

I still can't work out how the edge on the battery shelf hole took so much weight without distorting
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

Hello Peetee,
The jig would normally be clamped securely to a structural member, and also, the weight of a bare shell is really not very much.

The hole that was used in the picture posted by bigginer is different as that is in Australia!
The hole has a square edge to it in Oz and was a different process

I'm know you're right re. Australia, and bow to your knowledge re. the shape
Gives the idea though, and it's the only pic I've ever seen of the Rotodip. Not your copyright, is it? Forgot to check/find where I got it

The shape was a circle with a notch cut out, (will dig out an image and post) That image used as far as I am aware was copyright Free and appears on an Oz info site, but how this process worked in the UK I guess was diffrent. I think the cabs and rear ends may have been dipped indepently. However that said Andrew as you know the vans had little protection in the gutters so this may well explain it!
