sticky chrome

can anyone suggest a good way of removing masking tape from chrome? It has been there for so long that a soak in water for 4 days doesn't work.

Try Nail Polish remover its much safer, it removes sticky labels from household items such as glass, although you might have to scratch the surface with a scourer or similar to get under the tape.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. in the end someone local suggested using babywipes (plenty of those in our house) wrapped around and sealed in a bag for an hour so they don't dry out - and it works like a dream!
