1954 Distributor DM2A4 (Early) Parts?

Hello all,
I seem to be having a difficult time finding the most basic parts to refresh the Lucas distributor in my '54 2-door. It has the 803cc engine and I have ordered points, capacitor, L.T. wire etc and they just don't fit.
It seems every time I order the parts, they are for a DM2 (late) model distributor.
Can anyone recommend a source for the correct parts for this early version of the DM2?
I am in the US, but have no problem ordering abroad as long as the vendor can ship.
Thanks,
Mobjak

Is it a side entry one ? do the ignition leads go in from the side and are they screw terminals or push fit? This will help a lot in the search!

What exactly does side entry refer to?
Spark plug wires enter on the side, not the top.
The side terminal is a screw on nut, not push on connector.
Thanks

The 'side entry' is only the cap - both sorts are available for the early dizzy - it's not an important factor. Better take it out and clean it up - and relay to us any numbers on the dizzy body. Probably easier to just fit a later model - although I would have thought the parts would fit unless you have been buying parts for the much later 40/50 series dizzy - they will definitely not fit! Parts for 25 series are readily available.

Well, I have had the distributor out for some time, here is the info
953BN214
40299E
These two numbers were stamped into the side of the distributor.
TIA

Just an ordinary dizzy - spares are very plentiful - but do specify them for a 25D dizzy.

I was trying to post a picture of the parts that never fit, but can't seem to figure that one out yet.
I can reference the BL workshop manual, issue 3 page CC.6 and CC.7. My distributor is the DM2A4 on page CC.6 and all the parts I order are for the DM2P4 on page CC.7 They are very different in that you cannot put the points from the DM2P4 on the DM2A4 due to variations in the "Moving Contact Breaker Plate".
Will the 25D reference clear this up?
It seems that in the US the two parts suppliers only reference one model.
If 25D will get me the right parts, who would be a good supplier that ships overseas?
TIA
