Boot floor holes

Seeing as most of the big welding repairs are done now, Ive moved onto the fiddly bits. The last of which I need advice on is regarding my boot floor. I have a nice hole righ in the centre of the rearmost part of the boot floor (directly below the boot lid striker plate). Annoyingly part of the piece of box section that the striker plate bolts too is also rotted away. So, can i get a suitable repair section that incorporates this bit of box section and the boot floor, or is it fabriction time?

This is a fairly common rust trap. If you want perfection then it can be fiddly as keeping the look of the boot floor as one flat piece (as viewed from from underneath) is not easy.
On the one I did recently I just let in a new piece to the boot floor, and fabricated a piece to repair the small box section. I plug welded the 2 pieces together and was happy enough to have given it a strong repair.
If you do use a patch on the floor - remember that it needs to connect solidly to the support box. On one car (the 'pimp my ride minor' that I used to own before it was famous) a previous repairer had just patched the boot floor without considereing what the floor was attached to. When I gave the catch plate a firm shove to see if it was connected to anything it came off in my hand connected to the old (rotten) piece of floor.
I cleaned it up and removed the old metal and rot from the area and the re-attached the box to the nice neat patch that was already there.

You can get the small strengthener on its own but will need to remove the threaded part from the old one. The boot floor is easily shaped from flat steel.

When you have rebuilt it I suggest you put a row of at least four drain holes in the rearmost boot floor area.

very good suggestion! I forgot to mention that but I normally add some extra drain holes in the boot floor
