Rear brake fittings

Post by tortron »

Hey guys, i have recently gotten my first minor, a 1951 high light sidevalve, planning on having it as my daily (a few teething problems, but i now know that a 1000 generator will fit a sidevalve engine ).

I am currently rebuilding the brake system due to a few leaks and stuck pistons.

Could anyone tell me the size/thread of the rear brake fittings, i.e. the ones for the brakelines to the T connector and the ones to the rear cylinders.

thanks

I am informed by Graham Holt, he who knows about these things, that the thread size for both ends of the pipe from the T piece to the wheel cylinder is 3/8 BSF. For the A series rear axle the thread size is 3/8 UNF.

And an A-series is NOT a straight swap with a sidevalve for your information, the crossmember under the battery tray does not have the curve for all the overhead valve nonsense :):)
