Tie bar

Post by FrankM83 »

HI all today I was going to paint the tie bar before reassembly, but I noticed near the thread is what looks like a plastic tube that's broken and cracked, now it seems that the bushes are assembled on this tube how can I repair this tube do I need to change the whole tiebar? Thanks

Never seen a plastic tube on a tie bar before. Behind the thread there should be a stepped portion to stop the first big washer sliding back. Bushes should be a sliding fit onto the front of the tie bar.

Show us a picture. Not ever seen a plastic tube - nor any tube come to that!

OK I managed to remove the tube from the tie bar I think it's actually some sort of bodge! as I tried fitting the new bushes without the tube and they're a very tight fit so I'd imagine without this tube they wouldn't have fitted at all!

Hmm maybe it was done because the previous owner could not get the right size bushes, but like the others I have not seen this before.
Cheers
