Emmissions for 90's car

I'm fishing around for a family car for about a grand. To make a more educated choice I need to know what tax band my choice fits in but I can't find what the emissions are for any particular vehicle from the late 90's. DVLA site gives you specific numerical emissions for each band but doesn't list what old vehicles fit into which.
Can anyone help?

You may find the tax is done by engine capacity rather than CO2 figures for a 90's car. My brother has a T-reg jag and that's taxed according to engine size apparently. I don't know the year it changed over to CO2 though.

You want a naughties car not a nineties one. :D

If you buy a 90s one make sure its less than the expensive tax barrier. The old 1500 Hondas are good for this - they just slip under it.

yup. £120 for engine size under 1.549 litres, otherwise £185
