Hello

is there any way such as by engine number that you can tell if an engine is a 1098?

Nothing in haynes workshop or restoration manuals
My search in here for engine numbers came up with over 3000 results!

Thanks

Yes, although I can't remember it just now. The aluminium plate low down on the nearside of the engine saying '1100' is a bit of a give away too

Thanks very much.

I have just found that after working out how to search properly on here so 2 good results as it is a 1098.

Here is what I found from an ealier post

"If you look on the exhaust manifold side of the engine, fairly low down and close to the front there will be a plate with either 950 or 1100 cast on it. For a 65 it should say 1100."

the engine number on the side of the block should also begin with 10
