Morris Minor Owners Club

You probably get requests like this all the time, but I would love to know if our old car is still out there. It was bought in Dunstable in 1966. My parents gave it to me in 1979 but in 1982 it blew its exhaust and I had no money to fix it. It then went into my parents garage, and at a point when my Dad was also broke he sold it. It was the only thing he ever did that made me sad, but needs must at times.
Anyway, my parents are no longer with us, and for ridiculously sentimental reasons I would like to know if the car is still out there. I don't wish to own it, just to know if it is still running. Ridiculous really, to feel so sentimental about a pile of metal! Thought I would post it on here as if anyone is going to understand you lot should!
Its registration was ENH 982 D.
Also, I am thinking about becoming a moggy owner again, but not a traveller this time. Any tips for good years/ things to avoid?

Hi Pitchy, there is a guide to buying a Morris Minor at the above link. Rust is the big thing to look for, as welding, restoration and paintwork is expensive. Take someone with you whos is an expert as badly patched cars are common and will soon rust out again and fail the MOT.

As your family sold their Minor 26 years ago, the chances are it was run into the ground by subsequent owners and scrapped, sadly!, someone may search on DVLA with the plate to see if its still taxed.

The best advice for buying a Minor is join your local branch and ask around for help in finding a car/ if any are for sale.

Sadly DVLA dont list that number as being currently taxed or sorned, there is an outside chance its been exported, but its more likely gone to Morris Minor heaven I,m afraid, maybe your mum and dad are driving it around up there, be nice to think they are.
