Courtesy lights wiring

HI all I have the courtesy light which needs wiring I can't find a wire long enough to go to the roof witht he loom should I fabricate this wire connection? and any idea how the courtesy light is wired? Thanks

No loom I've ever got included that wire. Are you sure the old one's not inside the windscreen pillar still? If so, it'll at least help pull a new one through

the courtesy light wires are seperate from the loom
of course they comefrom the light to the dash area and then too the courtesy switches and then into the main loom

it is infact inside the pillar!! but stack hard inside I suspect that someone used bodyfiller to repair something and they are stuck to it! that's my guess!! there are 4 wires coming downn from the roof!

OK question could the 4th wire be for a rear lamp in the cargo ares? mine being an ex GPO van?

the rear lamp on gpo vans was operated by a switch under the dash board, mainly by the drivers side

yes but wiring would have passed up the Apost with the courtesy light?

well yes of course it woul, but from inside the dash area and not from the main light in the roof

no the courtesy light didn't exist when I got the van nor healdining all there was were 4 wires hanging off the roof channel

i meant that i had almost no idea that there should be one there! mine has never worked
