Hi, I’m looking for help with the fuel pipe/pump. On my way back from work today everything was going fine then suddenly the power started jumping out. I had my foot to the floor on the accelerator, but nothing. The man from the AA came out (it seems I’m determined to get my money’s worth out of them) and diagnosed a split petrol pipe. He’s put a new bit of tube on and said it should be better than the split one as its rubber, not plastic. He also said that the fuel pump was not the original SU pump, so he wasn’t sure about getting a standard replacement part. Does anyone think I should be trying to replace the tube he has fit? Would it be worth me trying to get hold of an actual SU pump?
I’ve also managed to break the end of my indicator stick – it is 41 year old plastic so I guess I may have been a little heavy handed. I know that the indicator lights are working when I turn them on, but the green light is no longer coming on inside the car. Is this easy to replace myself?
It’s all a little overwhelming. I wanted to learn about moggies, but I’ve only had it 1 ½ weeks and I wasn’t expecting this yet. Are there any good beginners mechanic courses anyone can recommend?

hi all the parts you need are available through componies like charles wares, esm or bull motif, you will find thease if you google them.if you get a new pump i would get a new fuel pipe as well the one that goes from the pump to the carberetta, this is now a braded pipe.i know you can get new indicator switches as a unit not sure if you can get the green lens and bulb as a seperate unit.there will be someone on here that knows for sure, hope this helps.i am sure that there will be someone in your branch who will help you with basic matanance, the club do a good technical dvd and manual that you can buy from regailia

HAVE IT! LOVE IT! DRIVE IT!
I don't think you can get the green bit seperately, sadly - not new, anyhow. The bulb's easy enough (if fiddly) to replace though, and you can always tape on the green lens if you can't afford a new unit. That, btw, is a proper faff to change and still have the self cancelling working correctly
Apparently, if you do decide to get another pump consensus is that SU is your best bet for reliability and longevity
