Please could somebody post a picture of a normal minor 1000 engine bay without the enigne fitted as on mine one mount is further over than the other but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that, mine is a 948CC if that makes a difference, Thanks

My 948 engine mounts are exact mirrors of each other. Their positions, however, were not 100% symmetrical to the body centerline due to a frontend smack, so pictures from my car (and pre welding) are not to be trusted. :-) Hope your chassis legs are straight and that just the mounts are whacked.

They should be central.

there you go, theres something not quite right. Also it appears that one of the engine mounts is welded in place. Could anybody suggest why this has been done?

I may be pessimistic but maybe the car was involved in an accident? or maybe you welded in a new tie plate a bit further back?

You might have two mounts from the same side.( They are handed) Normally if you reverse a mount it will bring the engine further forward ( or was that backwards) so this might well be your problem :o Should not be welded in though. :D

Don't worry about being pessimistic as I think you're right! I've just remembered that last year I was questioning why one of the doors kept catching on the front wing and it was suggested that the car had been shunted at some point so consequently one side is ever so slightly shorter than the other, however it shouldn't mean that the engine should be moved that far over should it?!

well that engine mount should have a hole in it to strt with! whats also getting me is why the left mount is standing proud of the rest of the tie plate as far as I know mine is flush. I think you should do some measuring and check maybe on another Morris

Could well be. The engine tower could be skew to allow the engine and box combo to remain aligned with the differential

I think my biggest worry would be that the wheels were still in/possible to get to alignment. Think some V. careful measuring is in order :(
