When I fill the car i get a leak from the tank unit, have fitted a new seal but it still leaks until it reaches a level.
Does the gasket need adhesive as well?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Graeme

It shouldnt do mines original and doesnt leak at all, I suppose both of you were supplied with the correct type of cork gasket.

I had this problem. (See previous posts somewhere).
It turned out to be the sender unit itself leaking fuel up through the sender. It was difficult to see where the fuel was leaking when it was all in place. Just had a strong pong of petrol and a damp puddle round the sender unit.
Cure was a new sender unit. (It came with a multi-ribbed "rubber" gasket, not cork by the way. It has much more "give" than the cork one, and seems more likely to give a good seal without the need for goo.)

Had similar too, new sender poorly fitted.
Managed to salvage the gasket and bedded it back on with a coating of good old Hematite Blue either side of the gasket.
Can fill it right up now and not a whiff.
Tip - if you do remove the sender just stick a dot of tippex on it at the top and a corrsponding one on the tank - first time i put mine back got it the wrong way and fouled the float. Hey ho live and learn
