Hello all,

I've recently started trying to get my nan's old morris minor started ofr her birthday, which has been sitting in the garage for 15 years. I just managed to get the dizzy/ spark plugs back into action and then started to try the carb back into action. Looking closely into it the piston in the carb was not moving properly so i took it apart, cleaned it thouroughly and re - centred the jet, however on replacing the jet i had to reconnect the jet hose to the fuel resevoir (not sure if that is the proper name for it) and now i am getting a leak of fuel from the bottom, i have brought a new jet, but still seem to be getting the same problem. Is there anything I am doing wrong or anything I can do to stop the leak?

Thanks for any replies

Tom

Is it leaking from where the little pipe screws to the bottom of the float chamber? There should be a tiny washer in there that forms the seal when it's tightened down.

Yes,it is a small rubber ring which squashes up as the nut is tightened,
Note that it is inserted with the ring ON the pipe so that the nut spreads it to a petrol tight joint when tightened.
