Hello,

Still in the early stages of my Minors restoration but have been trying to establish it's original spec.

Was wondering if chrome door tops were ever standard or if they were body coloured and if there's any way of knowing which my 1969 2 door should have.

Apart from some Series MM cars, the 2 door saloon should have painted steel door tops. The Stainless ones were fitted to the Traveller.

Many have been retro fitted to 2 door saloons which can add to the confusion.
Steve do you need some as I have a couple of complete spare doors going spare the bottoms are not to healthy but they still have the fittings, and you are local to me.

As body coloured is standard I think what i have should be ok thanks Kevin.

Was just checking because i can tell many things on the car have been replaced or repaired in ways not entirely true to the original. I'm liking the idea of getting it back to the way it should be, though this would mean dark silver wheels which i'm not entirely sure about :-p

Lots of owners like to do that, but when it comes down to the wheels many prefer the look of Old English White to Dark Silver, myself included
Steve you are more than welcome to pop along to Herts Branch if you want some more advice and we have a couple of concours vehicles which are great from an originality point of view.

I keep meaning to get to a meet, they're not far from me. I will do soon hopefully.

It would be good to get a closer look at some more cars. I dunno if i've missed something on here but pictures of members cars on here are quite hard to find. Is there a picture gallery anywhere for members to post their pics? I just wonder if it could act as a good resource for reference and ideas.

Whilst door tops are being discussed, any idea how to pepare a set of trav ones in such a manner that the paint wont come off?

Aren't the traveller ones all stainless?

So i believe Alex, hence will be a PITA to paint without it falling off
Dechroming the thing so they have to be painted or changed (too much money ! )
Unfortunately i dont think they are in good enough condition to do a swap with someone for a set of plain steel ones:-(
