Changing Front and Rear clusters - Help

I was thinking of changing the front and rear light clusters to the older type but need a bit of help.

1. I can't and don't expect to be able to make the front light work as both a light and indicator, only as an indicator. But the replacements lights I have have three wires coming out of them, while the older front light fitting has two (side light and indicator).... so how and which wire do I conect ?? Just the one indicator wire ?? Is it that simple.

2. I want attach the older cluster to the rear while mounting circular indicator lights below the bumper. The replacement cluster has two wires, while the existing cluster has four (indicator, two for the rear light and brake light and a black wire for the earth ???). Do I just attach the 2 wire in the replacement to the two existing brake/light wires and extend the indicator wire to below the bumper ?? What about the black wire ???

Sorry, but just too many wires ..... :-? :-? :-?

For each light, you're going to need to connect the power lead and an earth - so two 'lives' (I know that's not strictly true for positive earth) for the rear/brake light. They can (and probably do) share an earth. You can find the colour codes for the original wiring in Haynes BOL, so it's a case of extending those leads if they need it and ensuring that each light has a good earth.
