if i want to put a secret switch to stop the fuel pump, should i use a relay or just cut a switch in line?

A switch should be fine as long as it's not really tiny.

Switch only (less to go wrong), but make sure it's good quality. A sturdy metal toggle switch is the best bet single pole single throw type with a current rating of 5 AMPS at 12V DC will be fine.

Hide it well Barry - and not in the obvious place.

personally I think a fuel pump kill switch is too obvious

anyone that knows a mog would be aware of a non-ticking pump and might suspect such a switch

I would look to the coil/dizzy if I were you, cutting power to that is a lot less obvious and would give you a non starting engine that would just appear troubled in some odd way

I prefer the LT switch route as well, because if you inadvertently switch it when your on the road the engine will come straight back when you switch it back on. Which is less dangerous that running out of fuel in the fast lane!

i have got a connector that goes on the negative side of the battery.when you laeve the car you open the bonnet undoo the screw on the battery and the car will not start.there is a fused by pass wire that will allow enough current to power the radio or alarm memory,if some one trys to start the car it just blows the fuse.cheaper option just take the rotor arm out.

But it involves getting dirty fingers! Most people stealing a Minor will be doing it for a laugh - just a joy ride. These neds will have no idea about listening for an electric pump ticking - they get the car started and off they go, yet 50/100 yds later it splutters to a halt. The car is now obviously out of position - they won't hang about trying to figure what's wrong - they will run away! It saved my Minor some 40 (odd) years ago - came out the house, no Minor !! Ahh there it is , 50 yds down the street. Coil switch would work as well - but then it just doesn't start - and they might spend a few minutes figuring it out - although realistically they won't have a clue - but they might just seek vengence by smashing it up a bit. Wheres the spluttering to a halt with no fuel will have them worried - and hopefully just run away. Sadly - If someone REALLY wants your car - nothing will stop them.

The best one would lock them inside, call the police automatically, and administer electric shocks until the police (eventually) arrive... but I wouldn't advocate that as it wouldn't be entirely legal!

The cops do that (sadly without the shocks) in some areas of high car theft. Not entirely sure if even locking them in is legal!

Honest Officer, the car was making a citizens arrest!

... or more likely, they would cut themselves on the wiper switch and sue
