Gearbox oil filler access

Post by hornmeister2000 »

Can anyone offer somwe advice on how to get the nut off the top of the gearbox to check the oil. I've removed the rubber plug from inside the

car, but it's about a finger's length down and I have no idea how to gwet at the nut...

If you do not have the relevant socket to fit, you should be able to reach it from underneath.

I'll try Halfords for a socket but it looks a bit too far down even for that. Otherwise I'll try your advice - thanks!

Underneath is fine I just use the rubber bung for putting the oil in, as for the socket I did not mean on its own but used with an extension bar as most socket sets have 2 different length ones. Dont just buy a socket set for this one job.

I use an ancient six inch box spanner....another thing
to look for at a boot sale,or one of those 'pound shops'
where you will get a set of three box spanners for £1.
