Morris Minor Owners Club

Apologies if this question has been asked before - does anyone know how to obtain the original registration mark for a Morris. My 1954 Series 2 was originally registered WWL 654 but was off the road for many years in the 70's and when re-licensed in 1986 the DVLO gave it a new mark of DSU 762.
I would like to get it re-registered with it's original WWL 654 if possible.

You need to find if that reg was issued to something else. Best bet really - ask DVLA. Be ready for a long and difficult battle.
Edit - just checked - it's not currently issued so you have a chance!

I recently got the original reg back for the lowlight. It had been off the road from 1973 until 1998 during that time DVLA went computerised and anything not taxed was forgotten about.

What you will need is proof that this was the cars proper number, such as a tax book, old mot or tax disc. Then get form V765 from the dvla website. The car will need to be authenticated by a club official that it is genuinely said vehicle, thay have to be perfectly happy as they can be heavily fined if it is incorrect! All the stuff then needs to go to Swansea were they look at them every so often. Dont be in any great rush as it may take some time.

I had help and advice from a club officail who is very knowledgable and experienced in this, but has since retired from FHVVC.

Costs were around £20.00, plus new plates. I also found a heritage certificate very useful as this dated the car precisely. The original number was only issued for about 2 months and tied in well with the cars manufacture date.

The only complication for me is that Swansea DVLa and Northern Irelands tax offices arent yet linked and I have to mot the car before I can officially import the number to register it...
