Hi I have to take my daughter to Epsom university on Friday 15th and have to be there at 3 ‘0’ clock.
I was wondering what will the M25 be like around 2-3 O’clock and should I allow an extra hour or so?

Oh how i so sadly miss traffic ! used to spend 4 or more hours a day sat in the stuff commuting. Saw a tractor & 2 cars today on the return trip to the shop. Cant beat listening to radio 2 on a friday afternoon and hearing the traffic reports

Better to be early than late if it's important, just one minor thing can cause that wretched road to grind to a halt for ages !

Actually it's not too bad if you get a decent parking spot

Talking of Orkney Kevin, I was thinking how busy it was last year compared to how it used to be.

Sorry for the hijack overider just to answer Bill, it 'seemed' a lot quieter last year than the previous few decreasingly.
According to the tourist board the figures are up but soley on daytrippers from cruise ships by all accounts.
Having said that though you still need to be booking ahead for accomodation, theres just not enough to go around.
Dont forget also you turned up in the busiest by nature weeks there are in the calender.
I reckon much quieter on the whole on the rare occasions i venture out.

Depends how important the appointment is. Better to be an hour early etc. etc.

Thanks for the links M25van there top sites and a big help I will check them before I go. I got a big weight on my shoulders its my daughters interview for university. If I get her there late i will never here the last of it.

Well I think theres your answer - You can't afford to be late so need to allow for a problem. Normally not too bad at that time but who knows. The M1 in Northants should have been fine this afternoon but wasn't - I got stuck for 1.5 hours to go about 4 miles, then turned off onto the A5 to be met by another accident - but hey ho, it was a sunny day, I was getting paid for it and my Mon/Tue stuff had been loaded on to our spare trailer so no panic (apart from nearly running out of driving hours).

Glad to have helped.
I particularly like the way that overhead gantries now (sometimes) display the estimated journey time between junctions. Anything approaching a mile a minute and you know all is clear.
There is another site called keep moving that used to display little speedo's showing actual traffic speeds. Trouble is the site keeps changing format and I don't find it as informative any more.

sorry Ray i have only just read this msg so you are out of luck.

I never saw the trabi on my journey round M25. I was on there between 12:30 and 1'o' clock. It only took me 3 and half hours to get there and 7 and half houres to get back home.

Traffic sucks !!!

I did make it on time thankfully the traffic going down there was light only slow point was the end of M1 road works with 50 mph limits. But no queuing traffic at all.
It was coming home that the nightmare began constant stopping and waiting on the M25 Two hours to do 30min journey. The M1 was the same for another two hours. Then when I got a good run for about an hour or so the M1 got shut at J16 and I was in-between junction 15-16 sat for an hour until they opened it. The journey home was just stop wait crawl all the way. Until donnington. Then we managed a good 60mph. Until it cleared then about 10 'o' clock. And your right IT SUCKS

Well that's just crazy !

No thats just normal

I think I was going anticlockwise on M25 as you were going back the other way!! I took just over an hour an hour and a half to get from 16 to 10.
On the way back everything was fine (including M40) so I just made it out to a birthday party.

It reminded me of the M6 on a good day in the late 90's - (before we got to pay private road tax on the M-sucks toll road).

Last time I was on the M25 I started thinking how much money I could make by pulling onto the hard shoulder and selling hot dogs.
It really is a complete nightmare - whoever thought of having all those motorways converge in one place.
