What Size Wheels Do You Run? Why?

Post by bloodyank »

And what size tires? My Trav came with 13", and they look kinda small to me, but what do you all think?

I think 14s, as they came from the factory, but I'm kind of old fashioned, I guess

14", 145/80, haven't thought about much. just that's more or less how it was made, you can get that size tyres easily and I haven't noticed myself landing in the hedge very often :) .
Cheers, Axolotl.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I am not sure you realize that what you read is not what I meant.

my 2 door is currently on 13 inch minilights. it is ford stud pattern so I am hoping to soon fit a set of 15 inch mondeo steel wheels painted white with the minor chrome centres made to fit with 195x50 tyres.

my last minor had 185x55x15 minilights. that size tyre is exactly the same rolling radius as the standard size. I still have the wheels but they wont fit current car because of ford stud pattern (boo hiss).

I need to vote twice - 8 x13's on front, 81/2 x 15's on back.

Should I have voted 3 times then? I don't have a Minor on the road ATM, but I have standard skinnies, LP917s and Minilites to choose between :D

Mmmmmm 48's 8) Do they work well on a moggy ?

They added 'quite' a bit of confidence on the V8Mini, most noticeable in the stopping dept!

Smell great when stacked in the hall on a warm day too :D

:D

Forgot to say that William is currently mostly on wheels of about 90mm, (trolley jack and bread trolley) + occasional axle stands.

Road wheels - Umm, depends what hubs/axles end up on him

Standard 14" wheels with 155 tyres as I couldn't easily get 145's at the time and so I'm stuck with 155's unless I replace all 5 at once.
155's seem a bit wobbly compared to 145's unless they're pumped up quite hard but have the (very small) advantage of 3% higher gearing.

Why?
Because they were on the car when I bought it and I can't afford a nice set of wheels to replace them.
What would Macgyver do..?
