1951 MM Tourer ... seriously thinking of selling :-(

Post by Poppy »

Hello all,

Due to medical reasons I've had to surrender my driving licence for a year :( and I'd pretty much decided to sell my lovely little MM Tourer anyway as I didn't get the time to give her the attention she deserves! She's a very pretty 1951 Tourer, Black, new carpets and I had the hood replaced a few years ago - garaged everyday though so still looks as new!

So really I was just wondering if there was anyone looking for one and also if anyone had any advice on what sort of money I should be asking for? There used to be rough value guides in the club magazines but they're not in there anymore.

Any advice much appreciated :)

Sorry to hear that
Where are you before someone asks and says update profile.

Cant advise on the value - but can say if you can youd be better off selling in a few months rather than now.
2 reasons -
1. tis not the selling season prices are lower
2. ragtops ALWAYS fetch more money at the beginning of summer than in winter regardless of make or age.
(same is oppositely true of proper off road 4wd cars landies etc)
So if you are not desperate to sell and can hold off for 3 or 4 months you might be 25% better off.

Also dont forget the guide values are just that and something of an average - as always its what someone is prepared to pay and finding that someone.

Hi, Sorry to hear you may have to sell. In my view the price guides for MMs are rather low, and as Judge says, prices have been rising recently. Ther was a very nice tourer for sale at the National last year for £5500 , I was told, though the sign had been removed by the time I saw it so presumably it sold.
I know of anther very nice '49 tourer that changed hands last year for £5900 if thats any help.
cheers
Iain

Well, the time has come, I have given her a nice wash and polish this weekend and taken some photos ready to list her on ebay! When I have listed her I will post a link on here (and on the for sale forum) for anyone interested. I will be sad to see her go but I can't drive her anymore so it makes sense to find her a new home where she'll be looked after and driven !!

As promised, here's the link to my car on ebay. Frank M83 - I've listed her with a starting price of £3,000.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=018

If that doesn't work for any reason, the item number is 280220765045

I really hope she finds a new home and get to be driven on lots of sunny days! 8)
