New waterpump in place

Now I know this wont mean a lot to you seasoned mechanical Minor maestros, but it's a pretty big deal for me.
Poor Benny has been of the road for far too long awaiting the Christian Barnard of the waterpump to perform his magic ( aka as St Petee of SADMOG.
"Veni, Vidi, Vici le pumpus waterus..... ", "
He came , he saw he conquered that waterpump" and I stood around and held the occasional tool and passed the occasional bolt.
What was done in a couple + hours would have taken me a couple + weekends so I'm greatfully grateful for Petees support - nice one!.
Test drive tomorrow to see if its watertight (which I am sure it will be!).
Regards, Mike.

Good - hope you fitted a new by-pass hose at the same time!

Of course! and not the convoluted type either. (Load of rubbish that stuff). I used a piece of reinforced heater hose. Only difficulty with the job was getting the gasket to sit in place.

Well Done again.
It really doesn't matter what it is you've done, it' the feeling of satisfaction that you've done it!
(I got a lot of satisfaction from changing the side/stop bulbs the other evening - took a little re-shaping of the reflectors as well!)

Tip for improving rear lights - get some 'chrome' finish plastic (often in packaging) and cut a collar to slip in behind the bulb. Increases light output by at least 100% !!

Well I know where that all came from
So, we can have yet another minor at SADMOG meets?

Well Holly and I had a trundle out in Benny this morning to roadtest him after the replacement waterpump...
First the good news:
Absolutely 100% watertight, not a drip to be seen - brilliant!
Now for the bad news:
The knocking noise which prompted the waterpump replacement is still there
Looks like I'll have to resurrect the original thread and seek some more comments

.

I think you need the combined nouse and, more importantly, ears of the SADMOG party to diagnose the source. It's very difficult to be better than vague when you can't hear it.
I'll post a suggestion that the next Thursday eve is at a pub closest to you.

Thing I don't understand is how a water pump change was going to cure a 'knocking' noise ? To eliminate all the external rotating things - take it for a run with the fan belt off.
