Just got to renovating the wiper equipment. Not having actually removed the wiper motor or the wiper drive cable, at the flick of the switch, first try nothing. So I cleaned the terminals, result movement. I then put on a wiper arm,driver's side, pointing out. It ran backwards, from rest against the bulkhead it rotated downwards in the direction of the engine bay.

There are three cables runing to the motor, black which earths the body, central connection is green and third is black/green. I was tempted to reverse these two, but considered to seek advice first. This renovation is not in a rush.

I have reearthed "George" to negative. He is a 1966 1000 minor.

I think the problem is that the motor wasn't parked when you put the arm on. Take the wiper arm off again, switch the wiper on and off and wait for it to park itself, then fit the arms.

Motor always runs the same way - it is as Alex has explained just likely that the blades were put on in the wrong position. Watch the spindles turning - and if they don't park by themselves - then stop them just as they start to cross the screen - and fit one blade only and do a trial wipe. Once it's going nicely - add the second blade.

Hmm - odd - because UK licences begin with G. So where are M licences based - I should know, but can't remember!

They ran out of g7 prefixes ages ago. My information may be out of date now but m1 was an English license without the morse test and m0 was with morse. Scotland is presumably mm1 and mm0.

I was assigned my callsign around the time of the mad cow scare - that certainly caused a few laughs.

I actually purchased the reg plate about ten years ago direct from the DVLA. I've no idea of it's original local. But it just one of those whims (M1NE John)

As for my wiper problem, the car's actually garaged at my mother in laws so unless I get a chance to escape over this weekend I'll have to wait until next weekend.

Ah, OK. It didn't look like a car registration number.

Been wondering for some time how many RA's would be on here . I'm G4RVS . BTW Alex I think you can regain your licence which would be class A , there is no longer a Morse test requirement for HF operation & licences are now lifetime

CQ CQ G4RVS - must be even older than me, although I didn't sit test until in my 40 s ! Actually so I could use the radios on a Rally Rescue unit - and just as the mobile phone was invented.

I got my license so I could play around with packet radio, then I got onto the Internet and found that a lot more interesting.

I've been licensed ( G6 ) since 1981 & G4 from Jan 1983 . This year I'll be 55 . Sorry mods for going off topic , I'm now going to open a topic in the off topic section .

Just an update. The reason for my thinking the motor was running backwards was due to poor terminal connections. Having cleaned the terminals when the switch was off the wipers returned to park and not left in mid sweep as was happening previously.
