headlights
have many other people fitted tripod headlights? i went to the science museum the week before last with my dear girlfriend, and there was a rover there that had them. as a newbie to all this old tech stuff, i saw the headlights were these amazing tripod things, so...i went on trusty fleabay and bought some. they look incredible! actually amazing! (also...have we all seen the lowlight at the museum??? it really should be on the road!)

oh right...i wasnt sure if you meant the pattern they give out...mine are repro's and have halogens in them, now fitted with stupidly expensive(by my standards!) xenon bulbs. they seem really bright, but i've not driven with them yet as the car is knackered! in fact, i've barely driven at all since you helped me do an accuracy test on my speedo!
also fitted led's in my sidelights, and a xenon bulb in the spot light...had to "make" it fit as it was supposed to be BPF...naughty naughty!

That's the main problem with the tripod headlamps - they were designed to be used with, and I believe the reproductions are still produced for, low-powered BPF bulbs. However the joy of the internet means that it is possible to buy normal wattage halogens with a BPF cap.
I do like them, though - I'd love to see pics when you have any. I wanted to fit a pair of tripods when last I replaced the headlamps, but the Quadoptics I fitted were £20/25 the pair and I found tripods at £50 each. Scary money, I thought.
Nice though.
