trafficator

Post by Onne »

I have got a problem with my trafficator.

Someone was kind enough to knock it of whilst getting out of the car.

I have replaced the metal arm, and of course the glass.

All is fine apart from the bulb.

I can not gte it to work, only when I push the trafficator up .

Any ideas?

If it works when you push it up - then something must be loose. Nothing for it but to cahse the problem down! I remember my Dad often breaking the arm getting out the car. Should be possible to rig a warning buzzer or alarm - connected to door switch and through the trafficator circuit.

I seem to remember that the bulb only lights when the trafficator is fully up . It may be that you need to further straighten it so that the switch activates slightly before the arm reaches the top of its travel .

Indeed.

But the trafficator is fully up.
Always worked before.

How hard is it to remove one of them?

I want to keep them in running order in case the modern nonsense fails to work!

I think removal is easy . My manual tells me to remove the rear seat squab , unscrew the Phillips screws holding the rear quarter panel , which is then removed . Unfasten , from outside , the two Phillips screws holding it to the body . Finally disconnect the cable .

That's it, I do not want to undo it from the outside, as that will damage the paint.
