Would a Midget exhaust manifold fit a minor? Without having to dig a chunck out of the bulkhead that is.

The manifold would fit, but AFAIK the exhaust attached to it wouldn't.

The Midget LCB doesn't. Was there a cast version of a similar style to a Minor or did they all have LBC's?

Lets just say it involves

an RC40 set of silencers
A MIG welder
and a lot of pipe

I think some of the Spridget manifolds go tightly down the side of the block - and there isn't room on a Minor between the engine and the chassis member. The Welder method will be my way forward when I finally get round to it!

My other option is using an LCB setup as I already have the bottom piece (2 into 1)(cheers Matt )

Ultimatly I'm after economy not buckets of power so the RC40 is just a means to lower back pressure.

I which case I'd better make it clear that I don't know that as a fact. Assumed they would have cast manifolds, and based what I said on my experience of an LCB

The Spridget exhaust outlet is vertically downwards, and will not fit a Minor at all, either the standard cast iron or LCB. The only solution, other than lots of pipery and weldery, is to buy an LCB. The other possibilty is the twin outlet manifold from the Marina/Ital maybe?

Paul... I have a selection of midget LCB's you could borrow and would be willing to take offers on the one you want to modify (if you do...)

I will dig them out, I know where 2 are and im 99% sure where the other is

I fitted a manifow lcb system for the minor to my car it is straighter than the midget one & exits the same place as the original with no cutting

OT but maybe still relevant.
Am I right in assuming that it's "acceptable" to make a downpipe out of numerous bends etc welded together ?
Obviously same sized tube and carefully butt welded together.

The reason I mention is this thread has just reminded me about a local scrap metal yard not 2 miles away that has the spoilt sections from a big exhaust manufacturer.
Often there is a huge pile - maybe 2-3 skips worth so might save me having to buy an expensive ESM downpipe for an Ital manifold if I can fabricate out of these sections.

It's how a lot of fancy fannymoulds are fabricated, so no problems on any other bit of the exhaust.

Just make sure that they are decent welds with out big blobs on the inside of the tube, unless you fancy playing silly games with a looooong die grinder !

These skips sound great - bound to be some longish bits - and bends in there too!
