ribbed box...long stick...

yep, after hours of dremel abuse, i have mated the back section/selector of a long stick to a ribbed 1098 box. WHAT A MASSIVE EFFORT!! probably should've taken a pic before bolting the two bits together, but then id be embarrassed by my lack of machining ability! note my use of a dremel!
not fitted it yet...that will happen week after next, but i am cautiously optimistic...
funny thing is...before the summer is here, i want to fit a 5speed...was it worth the effort??!! :-S
oh and hello again! it's been a while since i was on here!(by my standards anyway!)

Well done - basically, what did you have to do ?

i had to wear a hat, ride around on a horse and shout "YYYYEEEEEE_HAAARRR! Okay, so jokes over...please bear in mind my lack of technical knowledge...
main jobs were...
1.grinding down the tail shaft of the 1098 box (between the spline and the speedo drive) only a couple of mm as it was too thick for the casing.

2. ground down where the selector rods touch the casing, to give a few more mm(also ground about a mm off the selector rod tops(i know, that was the main cowboy moment!)

3.ground a new deeper, stepped, flange on the casing to accommodate the larger 1098 rear bearing.

That was basically it. but the stepped flange was a nightmare, and as i don't have a spare stick, i can tell yet if the gears are going to select ok! but hey, it was fun!

ha, yes, except the grinding of the tail shaft!
