Most Powerful Naturally Aspirated A Series.

Now here is a question for you all. What is the most powerful N/A A series engine in a Minor. I have heard of a 1275 (obviously) that has been worked on. think the bloke is from Wigan area. He goes dragging with it, but it is still road legal and driveable. It is estimated to have 150BHP. Estimated because it spins its wheels on rollers. Can't remember the blokes name. Has anyone heard of it?

112 bhp on a rolling road a couple of months ago - 1380, single HIF6 carb. Would hope that might be closer to 120 bhp with the 45 DCOE that I have ready for another session later this year??

I used to crew for a 1380cc sprint and hillclimb Mini that had 157bhp.

i would imagine that with an 8 port head or 16v head 200BHP would be possible... for a few weeks
but whether it would truly be an A series engine without an A series cylinder head.... Im not sure.

Most non-charged power comes from the BMW headed versions - like this one -
Which Morspeed built on an S engine I sold to him. This one is 999cc - but he also does the larger capacity versions.
And yes - this is in a Mini - but the same conversion can easily be fitted to an inline A series although an EN40B crank with S rods would be high on the buy list! Some power claims are pretty wild - and some rollers are wildly inaccurate. So don't believe all you read!

Certainly with bikes, there are some dynos producing good 'pub' figures, so it is fair to assume the same with cars. Best idea is to use the same dyno all the time, then you can compare modifications.
