Scotland / Northern England - How's your weather today?

Post by Orkney »

Looks like you guys are haveing a bit of a blow on the weather.

Bizzarley spend all day yesterday flat out sorting the animal houses & feed etc in preparation (whilst suffering miserable cold/flu) only to wake up at 4 this morning and there hasnt been a puff of wind that would even consitute a breeze since then :-?

Looks like the centre of the low is sat directly overhead, looking at the atlantic pressure chart might even fluke this and escape it alltogether if as suggested it merges with 2 other systems coming in.

Anyway hope nobody is suffering any damage :-?

Pretty windy here, and a little bit of snow overnight.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

Very windy all night and morning - Both Tay bridges closed, plus the Friarton Bridge at Perth. Forth Bridge also closed, and still quite windy, but dying down now. I was ready for doing some work on my Saab this morning, but daren't even open the bonnet - may go out soon though.
My Son has lost his fence, and garden furniture - not alone I'm sure.

They cancelled the afternoon mainland ferries here this morning whilst it was completely still, rightly so as its blowing through now.
Its BITTERLY cold, just had to get the pig in and make her a hot meal, poor thing was almost a piece of frozen pork !

Central Scotland 4:00am had a gust of wind that lasted for about 1 min that sounded as though it was going to lift the house off it's foundations. It was gale force winds all night, but this gust sounded incredible. When your house is flanked by tress this is quite worrying :o

Now it's back to sunny intervals, breezy with drizzle, and still cold.

Just finished the damage patrol, and everything looks OK, although one wheely bin is still AWOL :D

Managed to get work done on car (thermostat on Saab 9000 - too much to remove before you can replace it - why don't they make things easy to get at), but still windy and cold. A roof blew off a new build students accommodation last night in Dundee.
Can only get better, but wind is picking up again just now.
