I am currently installing an alarm in my Series MM and need to run a dozen or so wires throgh from the interior into the engine bay. Being very reluctant to drill additional holes I have mounted the alarm, siren etc above the battery (stuck to the bulkhead so it could be taken off) and intend to run cables behind the battery and through the large rubber blanking grommet, Fantastic!, it comes through right behind the heater, enabling routing directly behind dashboard.
Give it a look next time you want to run some wires.

Another great plus for the Moggy. Fitting a Thatcham Alarm Cat 2 to CAT 1 upgrade on the VW Polo Sport, involved removing the wheel arche liners and running the loom through the A Post, into the door, and back out through the door wiring loom. There was absolutely no way to get the wiring through the bulkhead. :o

Didn't you find a connector in the door hinge area? I have on my Cavalier or did you find unused contacts?

On the Polo there is a huge door to A pillar connector with enough 'missing' connectors to feed the alarm cable through. Quite handy, as a lot of the wiring runs through the inner sill kick plate cover.
