I have gone back through all the old posts, and I cannot find a defiitive answer on how to remove the passenger door locking lever. I have bought a replacement door, and it appears that someone has tried to remove the locking lever, to enable the door handle to be removed, unsuccessfully. I have had to hacksaw the remains of the lever off.
There appers to be a small clip which has to be removed first. I found the remains of one, but it appeared to have been put in the wrong way round making it impossible to remove with the lock fitted.
If anyone understands what I am saying or can point me in the right direction before I tackle my good lock I'd be very grateful.

All of mine have just had a screw holding them on, but they're a) all LCVs and b) unlikely to still be original

yes the outer edge of the lock is held by three screws, but to remove the lock, the little pin used to lock the passenger door from the inside has to be removed. Its this little pin I am having trouble with.

Talking at cross purposes - I thought you meant the lever at the front of the door, sorry

You have to remove the clip that you are talking about to get the internal lock lever out from the lock and latch assembly. When it is assembled, the main body of the lock is fitted into place in the door and then the small internal lever is fitted and the clip pushed in once its all in place. It is a nightmare to remove normally!!

From memory there are 2 types, one with a clip that should look fairly obvious sticking out from the bottom of the lock bout 3mm. Just pull this out, carefully and the lever should come out. Stuff a cloth in the door bottom incase you drop it! Think this pin type is in the lock without a key prior to 1963??

Other one has a tiny brass pin that you need to push in with a fine screwdriver and then it should release. I think the lever needs to be in 6 oclock position fro the pin to be at the bottom of the lock

You mean FOR WHEN you drop it?

thanks all. I have found I have got one of each. The replacement door has a key lock and has a small pin that needs pressing. The door it is replacing has no key, so I assume it will have the small clip. Now I have a decision, do I fit the door with the lock, or do I blank it off by welding a small plate etc.. I quite fancy the lock, but I have destroyed the lock lever and I don't think these are available.
