Hi Johnno

I have tried to find out this myself.
What I have found out is that there are two types of front panels:

Type 1: In one piece, often with the " chees grater " part painted in silver.

Type 2 : With loose insert, but due to chrome was hard to get the insert was painted steel. However a Chromium Plated grill was available as an ( expencive ?? ) option. This is in March 1951, RHD Car No. 90117

Maybe export models were diffrent as I have seen frontpanels in one piece, and frontpanels with loose inserts which have the loose insert in painted steel, chrome on brass or stainless steel.

This is what I have found out, I dont know if it is 100% correct, but I am sure that other members here knows more about this.

Regards
Svantemann

As per Ray Newells Original Morris minor, March 1951 painted grill introduced with chrome as an option, this remained to the end of mm production. The painted grill on later mm was generally finished in body colour, but black cars were a specail case having a contrasting grey grill, birch grey being used most often.

Ive had a look through some peroid brochures I have but couldnt find any prices mentioned! Someone's bound to know!!

By the time of the 1952 MM grills were all one piece body coloured except for black as prevously stated. Does anyone have a high headlight two piece grill 1951-53?

Not to question anyone but Im sure mine is pressed stainless steel, when I got it, it was quite dirty and started cleaning with tcut then tried S/steel cleaner and came up a treat, it's also had some repair to it weld wise which I don't think it would have been chromed. So Im not sure?

Anyone know?
