Hi Folks, I have drilled a hole in my battery....as you do. Not on the Van, on my Hot Rod..anyway, the hole is underneath the battery and my question to you all is, what can I use to fill the hole with please? The hole is about the diameter of a pencil. Thanks nicely and Happy New Year to you all. Billy :D

More important where did the acid go?

Lots of bicarbonate of soda in the joints or it will rust in no time. Pressure washer would be good as well, or steam clean. To be honest I think the battery is the least of your worries.

The acid went in my drill and over my hands...not nice! Other than that, it went on the floor. All cleaned up now but still got a hole in me battery.

Sadly reckon your only option is to replace the battery :-( A lot of them are made from the particularly resiliant plastic which is quite slippery so not like you can glue a plate over it as the glue wont stick.
Even if you could tap teh hole & use a bolt as a stopper (think sump plug style) you still need either instant gasket or pva tape to seal it - both of which 'might get eaten by the acid - but it will certainly have a field day with the bolt and probably affect the battery anyway.

I didnt really need another hole other than the ones that are already there; It was an accident whilst I was drilling up into my floor to fit an exhaust bracket.

Maybe some plastic putty stuff would work - but for how long - and it might start to drip drip acid into your car! Better to face up to a new battery.

Thanks for the help and tips folks. :P I have packed the hole with some stuff that looks like two different colours of putty that you mix together, and then covered this with some stong glue stuff thats a bit like Araldite but isn't. Seems to be holding up at the moment  Of course, I have informed my bank to let them know I may need some money for a new battery  Thanks again and Happy New Yew to you all :D
