Another one of my silly questions. How do the doors open and lock?

One thing James in the first pic I can see a quarterlight but in the second there doesn't appear to be one ?

Hi Kevin,
Yes I've got one door frame in at the mo! entering will be by quarter light
or window if open! and Yes it was a strained exit!!!

I'm reasonable sure MOT will require an external door handle.
Reaching in to open will be a fail unless there is no fixed glass - winding window down or reaching though quarter light won't be acceptable.
Sorry to be negative, and I might be wrong, but best double check rules before you commit to a final design.

Im sure I have seen road legal custom cars without door handles that use a solenoid mechanism to open the doors.

As per what Kevin said I'm sure there are new cars that dont have a handle on them at all and its opened with a fob/button.
If it was a requirement for a safety aspect then that wouldnt stand up to reason as a lot of the high end exec cars now lock you in after a set amount of time by default as an urban crime prevention method.
think also about some of the kit car roadsters which dont even have doors your just sat in the monocoque bucket into which you climb
There are even a few new topless concepty but nonetheless in production cars which have no doors whereby your in an exoskeleton framework type thing.
On that reasoning youd be forced to put a door on in order for it to have a door handle.

Well, been here before, there was no problems with the mot as it was done without door frames so easy to open, plenty of old as well as new cars do not have handles, also no visible means of getting in, TVR for instance, I also know I won't have any problem next year as already checked with the MOT man, he is more worried about brakes, chassis, body structure. So Im sure some of you will have different thoughts on it!
cheers

I think the new wheels do look better and can see the clean hot-rod look you are going for. The front panel looks like its not finished yet, and what are the two white pieces of cloth at the bonnet corners?? Other than that, its coming along nicely.

Just watching American Hot Rod atm. Why not make a smooth front panel and have the lights on pods like the 36 Ford coupe? Just an idea ;-)

The two pieces of TAPE are holding the indicators on, so front is finished but waiting for new front valance the indicators will go in that. I'm not changing it again, it took me long enough this time! Just want to enjoy it this year
