optional radiator blind '61MM

I've got this MM1000 radiator with the optional extra radiator blind, which I am attempting to recommission. As far as I can see the blind housing containing the spring loader roller remains stationary at the bottom of the rad, whilst the blind is raised up to the required height on a cable.
As I say this is how I think it works but have some doubt as I was shown a similar unit fitted to a Riley where the housing moved in the slider and the end of the blind was anchored at the base.
Finally if you've been patient enough to view all of this, was the blind height set with some sort of stop under the bonnet, or did the cable enter the cabin to be operated remotely?

I think from long time ago memory - that yes the roller stays fixed and the blind travels upwards. No idea how the upper stop was engineered! I alwys just used a piece of cardboard.

Thanks for your response- I have to agree carboard far simpler!

I used to have a rad blind fitted which came from Gamages! This was mounted at the bottom of rad and was pulled up by a chain from inside the car, it went through a 'L' shaped bracket with a keyhole shape in it to hold the blind at any height. Worked well enough but I sometimes had to slow down (in my Series MM)! to let the blind down as it got pushed against rad!

I have often thought a rad blind adjustable from inside the car while on the move would be a good idea but didn't know they did them once for Minors. What is the blind itself made of?

I am not sure if it made purely for the minor, but it was exactly the same width as the rad and was of a sort of silvered fabric material. I only got rid of it a couple of years ago as I have now removed the fan blades and fitted an electric fan in front of the rad
