I have a 59 Tourer. The Pos. battery cable goes to the sheet metal battery "box". The parts manual shows another cable that runs from there to the engine???? Where does it attach? Head bolt? bellhousing bolt?manifold stud?
I cant find a picture that shows this. Any help?
I've never seen that. The earth to the engne is by a strap to the gearbox connected on the gearbox crossmember. I might be wrong , but I've never seen another connection in the engine bay.
This message board is like a family - you can't choose the other members!! But remember engine oil is thicker than water.
I'm sure I've seen Minors with an earth connection from a front engine mounting bolt to one of the bolts on the engine mount turret.
Might have been a GPO thing or a later mod though.
Same here as RR - couldnt help but think what's that dangly thing doing there - but sure enough its connected the same as roger describes and pretty sure its original.
my 55 minor is earthed to the battery box and the other to the starter solenoid(Pull type) Always been like that. Has a short earth strap from body to engine mounting . Don't know if original but been like that for 20 years that I have owned the car.
