Calling all users of heating oil for central heating...

Quick straw poll - whos paying what and where per litre?

The petrol price thread got me curious after phoning for a price this morning which came back @ 42.9p per L on a 1000 L delivery.

Truly curiois for a couple of reasons, firstly is heating oil equally disproportionately priced here on the godforsaken rock as petrol/derv is?
Secondly if the answer to the first is yes the that will seal the deal and will have to drop a minimum £750 to put a horrid gas jet boiler into the stove in place of the always on condensing pot burner thats in there now.
Would hate the noise i know compared to silence, but figure if i can have it turned off 12 hrs a day, it will be more efficient thats a fact, no reason couldnt cut heating & cooking bill by more than 50% - which at 42.9 ppl is going to have to be a consideration.

We buy in bulk with a group of us in the village pooling our order. had a delivery today even buying in bulk it was 40.25p per litre and the price was going up daily. :( Six months ago it was 31p!

What I can't understand is if the dollar is week and oil is priced in $ why hasn't it brought the price down? I blame the oil companies.

Jeebus !!! 7 cheers for that info Rog, makes me feel a whole lot less ripped off on the grand scale of things. Thought it might be over the odds prices here but couple pence a litre isn't so bad.
8 ish or less years ago it was just getting towards 10p per L, according to the chap at the fuel place the increase is a one way street (theyre really very good - if its due to go down they tell you)
FYI the dollar has always been weak, well on the comodity scale - look at those good ole chinese peeps, been accumulating them for years and now cant wait to invest them in other countries. Saw on the beeb news site the other day they are going it large in africa - palming off the $$$'s that they over inflated with thier demands for fossil fuels & metal.
It'll be the pound next then the euro, and heating oil will be a luxury :-(

Maybe something to do with a story on one of the news sites this morning predicting a 10% fall in property prices in teh next 12 months. Then teh negetive equity kicks in and well, recession.
Makes me glad to be eternally skint but at least not have a mortgage !

Hmm peat get stuffed - have some peat hill, just not the done thing to do it with a machine cause do it by hand and you'll get warmer digging, stacking then moving than you will sat by the fire - but you knew that anyway :-)

Thats a great article, but its written from German perspective. They still have a strong exporting industry, unlike the UK which is very simmilar to the US. Expect much worse for the UK from the credit crunch in the next few years, than even the US is experiencing now as we are a much smaller and more vulnerable country and like the US have a mere shell of a largely service economy with massive imports from China.
