Hi, I have recently acquired a series II (1956) MM. Can any member recommend a good garage or individual who can assess, service and repair Minors of this era? Many Thanks, Michael

Hello and welcome.
My first recommendation is to learn how to DIY service. This is a very good way to learn about your car and as you learn your way around the car you get to know much more about it, and therefore learn what to do if it needs some TLC whilst you're out driving it.
If you're on the east side of Brum, then feel free to pop over some time as I'm not that far away. There is a Birmingham branch of MMOC that meets regularly which would also be a good place for advice - and from the people I've met from B'ham branch, they seem to be a very nice helpful and friendly bunch.
The small handbook that would have come with the car gives really useful advice on servicing - most likely you'll find a few on ebay if you don't have one.

If your car needs some major work, and you're not inclined to DIY it, then there are a few Midlands based Minor specialists that advertise in the club magazine. Most likely people in your local branch will be able to advise on the relative merits of them - personally I'm a DIYaholic so don't have personal experience of garages round here.
DIY can save a small fortune however some people are really not up to the job (I've seen a few scary/dangerous repairs) so don't feel bad if you think you need a garage to do your repairs.

The B'ham Minor centre used to be near the jewellery quarter but has since moved to a bit further down the M5 and no longer do resto work.

Hi gribblewok - i'm looking for exactly the same. I might ask someone from the Brum branch to come and have a look at my trav in exchange for beer vouchers - to be honest I still don't know what needs doing and it has sat here for almost two years!

Let me know your progress!

Matt
