My MOT is due and booked for next monday

one of my wings is perferated in a line/slit towards the back where the fitch was replaced and when cleaned up the wing just holed as the metal was so thin at that point.

I have a nice new pair to fit, but dont really want to do that until I'm ready to paint the car.

do I need to tape over such an obvious hole? do exposed jagged edges create an MOT failure, its not structural at all so cant be failed for that.

Cheers

If it's sharp as you run your hand over it front to back then it WILL fail! Put a strip of duct tape over it for the MOT test then take it back off. I used to do it with the drivers door on my daily but now I've changed the doors so not an issue.

i'd put the duck tape on and leave it.If it passes the mot and you take it off and are stopped by the local plod, you run the risk of being done for using car in dangerous condition.Used to hapen a lot in my early days, mind the wings on M1 escorts and cortinas used to get into some bad states.Could never work out that bit of the construction and use regs since If you hit someone with the car I don't see how a rusty wing could cause more damage to flesh and blood but there you go Good luck

Don't see how a jagged, rusty, sharp bit of metal could cause more damage than a smooth piece with no sharp edge? Perhaps you're right... :D
